Pmary

3 phenomenal incidents concerning my mum I will share in this celebration.. I grew like other kids but had a challenge with reading.Primary 1 and 2 were the worst days of my childhood as I face constant mocking and reproach..it affected my self esteem seriously. My mum was a banker in Lagos and will get back home daily barely having time to take off her work clothes will sit with me at my assignment desk encouraging,teaching,praying,counselling,crying,propheaying..she never gave up on me..she told me several times I was her star elite and will make her proud in this life..sometimes she would hold my head, shake it continuously shouting out in prayers ..one day the scales fell..i began to read..i read anything readable..she invested in books, any book I requested, she bought for the joy of my reading..lol..standing on platforms debating for my school was the kid that was mocked for not reading on time, once I handed her the award I got from school as the newscaster of the year and I still remember the tears in her eyes..she fought for me and with me,she taught me to square my shoulders and look the storm in the eyes without fear..she gave me hope of a great future.. I remember eating on a poisonous plant out of depression and calling out to her when my body systems began to shut down..she raced me like a mad woman in her skoda to our family doctor who look helplessly at the dying me...my mum nursed me back to life.. This woman is a mum to hundreds, the regular pots in my home are what people call party pots, she denied herself many pleasures to make sacrifices for her kids,I watched her nurse my dad for 7yrs of stroke till his death...space won't let me go on..but on this day I want the world to know that sometimes motherhood takes alot more from us than we can imagine...i love you ma...her sound advice to me which always set off as an alarm in my head many times was..OTHERS CAN BUT YOU CANT...aaah..theres no two of Agnes ukpe..thankyou mum..your stories will be told,You will reap of every seed you have sown.
